RALEIGH, N.C. – Five members of the Shaw University women's outdoor track and field team have been recognized by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Associations (USTFCCCA) as All-Atlantic Region Award winners.
The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the regions' top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West – match those used during the indoor track & field season.
Junior La'Cherie Clarke was named All-Region in a pair of events that included the 100-meter and 200-meter dash while sophomore Tiarra Derosa (Sandy's, Bermuda) and sophomore Laquel Harris (Nassau, Bahamas) were both named All-Region in the discus. Freshman Tyefah Saunders (Kingston, Jamaica) tabbed All-Region in the shot put while sophomore Kaydi-Ann Wint (Kingston, Jamaica) garnered All-Region in the 800-meter run.
For the second-consecutive year, Shaw has had athletes make the All-Region Team under the leadership of head coach Nadia Alexander-Pompey. The Lady Bears had two athletes last season in Destinee Williams (100-meter dash) and Derosa (discus).
