WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD PREPARES FOR THE FRED HARDY INVITATIONAL

RALEIGH, N.C. – After a long weekend of traveling to Mount Olive, N.C. to compete in the University of Mount Olive Trojan Challenge on Friday, Mar. 23 and Saturday, Mar. 24 at the Ray McDonald, Sr. Track and Field/Lacrosse Complex. The Lady Bears will continue their road journey when they will make an appearance at the 13th Fred Hardy Classic Invitational Meet in Richmond, Va.

The event hosted by the University of Richmond and will be held Friday, Mar. 30 through Saturday, Mar. 31. The two-day meet will feature other Division I, Division II, Division III schools from all over.

The Lady Bears are coming off an impressive showing, placing third overall in team standings but claiming four wins total, including three field events in remarkable fashion. Freshman standout, Tyefah Saunders (Kingston, Jamaica) won the shotput with a throw of 13.71m - provisionally qualifying for nationals. She also claimed the javelin title with a throw of 38.87m while sophomore Tiarra Derosa (Sandy's, Bermuda) won the discus with a mark of 43.90m. LaCherie Clarke (Raleigh, NC) won the 200m with a time of 26.12.

 The meet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday.
