RALEIGH, N.C. – Shaw University women's outdoor track and field will travel to Mount Olive, N.C. to compete in the University of Mount Olive Trojan Challenge on Friday, Mar. 23 and Saturday, Mar. 24 at the Ray McDonald, Sr. Track and Field/Lacrosse Complex.
The meet will start with the field event (hammer throw) on Friday at 4 p.m. Saturday's events will begin at 9 a.m. with the 10,000m run and then at 10 a.m. with the javelin throw.
The Lady Bears are coming off a good showing in their season opener at the 49ers Classic in Charlotte, N.C. last weekend. Freshman Tyefah Saunders (Kingston, Jamaica) placed ninth and set a school record for the javelin throw at 40.80m. She also recorded a throw of 12.59m in the shotput to place 13th overall while sophomore Tiarra Dersoa (Sandy's, Bermuda) earned 10th in the discus with a 42.94 mark.
